PowerPoint add-in

Kinsy for PowerPoint puts Kinsy in a pane beside your slides. Describe the deck, add your documents, and the finished slides go into the presentation you have open, after the current slide. You can also open them as a new presentation.

It works in PowerPoint on the web, PowerPoint for Windows (Microsoft 365) and PowerPoint for Mac (version 16.43 or later). It does not run on iPad.

Install it

Until the add-in is listed in the Office store, install it from its manifest:

PowerPoint on the web or Windows: download the manifest, then go to Home → Add-ins → More add-ins → My add-ins → Upload my add-in and choose the file.

PowerPoint for Mac: download the manifest and copy it into this folder (create the wef folder if it is missing), then restart PowerPoint:

mkdir -p ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Powerpoint/Data/Documents/wef
curl -o ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Powerpoint/Data/Documents/wef/kinsy.xml https://kinsy.ai/addin/manifest.xml

For your whole organisation: send the manifest address to your IT admin. In the Microsoft 365 admin centre they can add it under Settings → Integrated apps → Upload custom apps, and it appears for everyone they choose.

Kinsy then shows up on the Home tab as Build a deck.

Use it

  1. Select Build a deck and sign in to your Kinsy account. A new account works too.
  2. Say what the deck should cover and who it is for. Add documents (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CSV or text) if the deck should be built from them.
  3. Choose how many slides, then Build deck. The pane shows the slides as they are made; you can keep working meanwhile.
  4. When it is ready, choose Insert after current slide or Open as new presentation. Open in Kinsy opens the deck on kinsy.ai, where you can edit slides and see the numbers that were flagged.

Inserted slides keep Kinsy's design, so they look the same as the downloaded file.

Sign-in and credits

The add-in uses the same account and credits as kinsy.ai, at the same rates. If a deck needs more credits than you have, the pane says so before anything is charged and links to the pricing page.

Signing in gives the add-in access to create and read decks in your account, nothing else. You stay signed in while the pane is open; closing it signs you out. To remove its access, go to Settings → Connected apps on kinsy.ai and revoke Kinsy for PowerPoint.

Privacy

Your brief and documents go to your Kinsy account to build the deck, as they do on kinsy.ai. The add-in reads nothing from your presentation; it only adds slides to it. See the privacy policy.
